Course Overview
This course from UC Davis addresses the twin capacities of adaptability and resilience in today’s constantly shifting work environments. It begins with the premise that rapid change, competition, and information overload are now permanent features of professional life — and
that surviving them requires specific, learnable skills rather than innate personality traits. The course covers stress management, procrastination and perfectionism, time management, and practical behavioural strategies for building personal resilience.
At four modules and approximately five hours, it is compact enough to complete in a single week alongside the Part A curriculum, while still delivering substantive content. The focus is on application: participants don’t just learn what resilience means, they build strategies they can
deploy immediately in their working lives.
Why This Course for Week 2
Week 2 of the Bridge Program centres on remote work psychology and resilience. Participants are settling into the programme, encountering the first real demands of structured learning, and beginning to feel the pressure of cohort dynamics. The ECA framework identified that this is
precisely the window where emotional cost begins to accumulate — comparison anxiety surfaces, and participants who process more slowly start to question their belonging.
This course responds to that moment. It teaches adaptability as a deliberate choice rather than a reaction, and resilience as a capacity that can be strengthened through specific behaviours. For participants navigating unpredictable life contexts — power outages, caregiving demands,
financial instability — these are not abstract concepts. They are survival skills for staying in a programme that demands consistency from people whose circumstances are anything but consistent.
